Using set in Unobvious ways

Good morning again! I had a few minutes last night & I already had my Deer Friends set(hostess) out & wanted to make something unusual with the set. Most of the images are Christmas themed, but I thought this would make a good birthday card. I loved how it turned out. What do you think?

Ingredients:

Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, Bella Rose DSP - paper; Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose - ink; Deer Friends, All Holiday - stamp sets; Soft Subtles buttons, white gel pen, Scallop Edge punch, Scallop Circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, 1" circle punch, 1/2" circle punch - accessories;

This was definely the card of punches!! I used 6 just on this card :) I also tried a different fold for this card. The front edge was folded back to make the pink strip down the center. Only halft of the scalloped circle is adhered to the card front & the other half rest of over the inside of the card.
I totally love trying to make something with a set that is themed for something different. I've been eyeing up the Sock Monkey set to see if I can come up with something a little different.

And still more cards!

And still a few more! I've been having too much fun with the new stuff!!
This card was a CASE from the Spring/Summer 2008 Catalogue. I used the new Baja Breeze & different ribbon. I love how it turned out!!

Ingredients:

Baja Breeze, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip - paper; Baja Breeze, Certainly Celery - ink; Baroque Motifs - stamp set; 1 3/8" circle punch, scallop edge punch, 3/4" circle punch, Chocolate Chip taffeta ribbon - accessories;

I love the combination of the new Pacific Point & the Tangerine Tango!! I realized while I was making this card how addicted I've become to patterned paper. It was fun inventing my own background for this card. This stamp set makes me think of flower watercolor paintings.

Ingredients:

Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, Baja Breeze, Whipser White - paper; Pacific Point, Baja Breeze, Apricot Appeal, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss, Old Olive - ink; Happiness Always (hostess), En Francais - stamp set; Label punch, clear rhinestone brads, 1/2" circle punch - accessories;

Playing with my New Stuff

The new Bella Rose Designer Series Paper is sooooo pretty! This really soft pink & rose paper just made me think of baby girls. The Sock Monkey is so cute I had to put them together. I see that my favorite Close to Cocoa Prints DSP is discontinued so I used my piercing template and white gel pen to make the polka dot background. So in love with the taffeta ribbon! I'm glad they didn't discontinue it!

Ingredients:
Close to Cocoa, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Ridding Hood Red - paper; Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa - ink; Sock Monkey, Everyday Flexible Phrases - stamp sets; pink taffeta ribbon, white gel pen, piercing template - accessories;

After looking at this new Dreams de Jour set I thought this stamp would fit perfectly in the 1 3/8" square punch. There's something about stamps that fit into a punch that just makes me happy! I stole this layout from a Black & River Rock card I made a month or so ago. I like how this one turned out!

Ingredients:

Kiwi Kiss, Ridding Hood Red, Bella Rose DSP, Whisper White - paper; Kiwi Kiss, Ridding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip - ink; Dreams de Jour - stamp set; 1 3/8" square punch, blender pen, Chocolate Chip taffeta ribbon - accessories;

New Stuff, new stuff, la, la, la, la, laaaaaaaaa

And the new colours are...... (Drum roll, please)....
So I'm pleased with this year's colours & the new Bella Rose paper that combines the Ridding Hood Red with the Pink Pirouette is BEAUTIFUL! I received my pre-order from this fall's catalogue & had to get right into it!! I went on splitcoast & check out some samples... Here's some of what I came up with.

This card is only changed slightly from the sample. I think it's gorgeous!

Fancy Fresh Cuts

My friend tempted me into another card exchange & here's the result! The layout came from this card:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/927931?cat=500&ppuser=458 by Beate Johns. I can't believe how much I like the new Fresh Cuts stamp set. When I first saw it, I though "hmmm, pretty..." but I could live without it. Now that I've used it, there's so many things I can think of using it for!

Ingredients:

Basic Grey, Mellow Moss, Rose Red, Very Vanilla - paper; Basic Grey, Mellow Moss, Rose Red - ink; Fresh Cuts - stamp set; 1/2" circle punch, Mellow Moss taffeta ribbon, 5 petal flower punch, Small Oval punch, piercing template, rhinestone brad (pretties kit) - accessories;

School's Finished

As a thank you gift to my son's teachers I made a little bag of cards & added his picture to a potted violet. To the left is the photo of the two together. The little bag contained a thank you card & three blank cards.

The apple card & bag were taken from here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/942354?cat=12786&si=teacher

This was the little photo I stuck into the potted plant. I saw the saying on splitcoast & made my own. Using Tombow MultiAdhesive I adhered the green apple paper from Summer Picnic to a chipboard star. Then I glued on the picture and trimmed it to match the star. Next I sanded the edges of the star. Using the Crop-a-dile I punched two holes & added two Always Artichoke brads. I used the computer to create the circular text "Thanks for helping me grow!" and printed it on White & Artichoke paper. I punched them out with the 1 3/8" circle punch and the 3/4" circle punch and adhered it to the star. Finally, I taped the star to a pencil.

And last but not least, I made three blank cards. The orange one from two posts ago was one & these were the other two.

This card was inspired by:

Another Birthday!

Today's my husband's birthday. Here's my card for him :) I have a picture of our new puppy sleeping in his hiking boots, so this image was perfect!
Ingredients:
Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla, Watercolor Paper - paper; Chocolate Chip, Black StazOn - ink; Circle of Friendship, For Father - stamp sets; gold brads, 1/2" circle punch, 1 " circle punch, label punch, piercing template, hemp, aqua painter, reinkers (various colors) - accessories;
This card turned out really cool. I got the idea of piercing stripes on the card base from the stitching of the boots. The Close to Cocoa paper was misted slightly with water and then crumpled a lot. After I'd smoothed it out, I lightly ran my Close to Cocoa ink pad over it to highlight the wrinkles. The half inch circles behind the brads was taken from some of Beate's cards. I totally love the stuff she makes!
