School's Finished

As a thank you gift to my son's teachers I made a little bag of cards & added his picture to a potted violet. To the left is the photo of the two together. The little bag contained a thank you card & three blank cards.

The apple card & bag were taken from here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/942354?cat=12786&si=teacher

This was the little photo I stuck into the potted plant. I saw the saying on splitcoast & made my own. Using Tombow MultiAdhesive I adhered the green apple paper from Summer Picnic to a chipboard star. Then I glued on the picture and trimmed it to match the star. Next I sanded the edges of the star. Using the Crop-a-dile I punched two holes & added two Always Artichoke brads. I used the computer to create the circular text "Thanks for helping me grow!" and printed it on White & Artichoke paper. I punched them out with the 1 3/8" circle punch and the 3/4" circle punch and adhered it to the star. Finally, I taped the star to a pencil.

And last but not least, I made three blank cards. The orange one from two posts ago was one & these were the other two.

Another Birthday!

Today's my husband's birthday. Here's my card for him :) I have a picture of our new puppy sleeping in his hiking boots, so this image was perfect!
Ingredients:
Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla, Watercolor Paper - paper; Chocolate Chip, Black StazOn - ink; Circle of Friendship, For Father - stamp sets; gold brads, 1/2" circle punch, 1 " circle punch, label punch, piercing template, hemp, aqua painter, reinkers (various colors) - accessories;
This card turned out really cool. I got the idea of piercing stripes on the card base from the stitching of the boots. The Close to Cocoa paper was misted slightly with water and then crumpled a lot. After I'd smoothed it out, I lightly ran my Close to Cocoa ink pad over it to highlight the wrinkles. The half inch circles behind the brads was taken from some of Beate's cards. I totally love the stuff she makes!

My New Nephew

I'm going to have a new nephew in the next few weeks, so I thought I'd try to be ahead of the game. I saw a similar card done by Beate and totally loved it for a baby card. http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/656670?cat=500&ppuser=458
Here's my take. Ingredients:

Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky, Whisper White, Wild Wasabi Prints DSP - paper; Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky, Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke, Black StazOn - ink; Event Full(discontinued Hostess Set) - stamp set; white gel pen, aqua painter, Soft Sky double-stitched ribbon, silver brads, matt pack, Non-SU rub-on, Coluzzle, slit punch, 1/2" circle punch - accessories;

I wasn't sure about the colour combo but I really like how it turned out! After cutting my circles with the Coluzzle, I used the slit punch to make the scallops around the outside. I like the way the two patterns of Wild Wasabi break up the layout but keep the same colour. I think I'll try this again on another card.
