Last Year's Scrapbook

After finishing my baby book, I thought I'd share my file folder scrapbook from last year. I made three of these for Christmas presents. I used the Simply Scrappin' kit Creative License to make two of them.

And here are the close ups of each month. Sorry they're fuzzy but you can see the layout of each.

Last Installment of the Baby Scrapbook

This is my last post of the scrapbook for my nephew. I'm so glad I got it finished so quickly. I'm so crazy about the letters I made for the title page. They're made with embroidery floss. I just got these piercing templates from my local scrapbook store & they're so fun!

The Christmas Scrapbook

One of the Christmas gifts I'm making this year is a baby scrapbook for my nephew. I've been totally cruising and have already finished 15 or 16 pages. I haven't done the cover or title page yet, but here's a taste of some of it.

Sew, Owls are in Right Now...

I had my first technique club & we chose punches as the technique. I found a tutorial for these owls on the Stampin' Up! site & thought they were adorable. The first birthday one is similar to the tutorial and I made one for my mother-in-law but since it's so close to Christmas I thought we'd make a more Christmasy one for the club.

Ingredients:

Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron DSP, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White - paper; VersaMark - ink; Occasions Collection - stamp set; White embossing powder, Chocolate Chip polytwill ribbon, Chocolate Chip marker, scallop edge punch, 1/8" punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, scallop circle punch, tab punch, 3/4" circle punch, 1/2" circle punch, 5 petal flower punch, boho blossoms punch - accessories;

And so for the Christmasy version...

Ingredients:

Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Bashful Blue, Whiper White, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, More Mustard - paper; Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White - ink; Snow Burst, Best Yet (hostess)- stamp sets; white gel pen, Chocolate Chip marker, scallop edge punch, 1/8" punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, scallop circle punch, tab punch, 3/4" circle punch, 1/2" circle punch, 5 petal flower punch, boho blossoms punch - accessories;

Sewing Machine!! I thought this set was great. I love vintage stuff!!! I even got it free during the Novemeber promotion from the sampler catalogue. I love the colours for this card too.

More Christmas Card Parties :)

These were the Make & Takes I chose to make for my last party. The skaters was from the last Stampin' Success Magazine & I knew I wanted to make it as soon as I saw it. I'm so totally in love with the Winter Post set. Can't wait to use the "Post Card" stamp on a scrapbook page too!!!
Ingredients:
Riding Hood Red, Old Olive, Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White - paper; Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red, VersaMark - ink; Winter Post, Occasions Collection (hostess)- stamp sets; Alpine Ribbon Originals, Mini Library clips - accessories;

I saw a card using Lovely As a Tree and chalking the green to make it look like it was glowing but the paper & layout was different. When I first got the Holiday Treasures DSP I didn't think I'd ever use this crazy pointsetta paper but as soon as I looked at the sample I mentioned above, I knew this would be perfect!

Ingredients:
Old Olive, Ruby Red, Confetti Cream, Holiday Treasure DSP - paper; Old Olive, Chocolate Chip - ink; Lovely as a Tree - stamp set; Ticket corner punch, 5-petal flower punch, Felt Fusion Too, green rhinestone brad, sponge dauber, Stampin' Pastels, Chocolate Chip marker, Ruby Red marker, pop-up glue dots - accessories;

Lately I've fallen in love with the confetti cream paper. I'm totally into vintage stuff and anything made with confetti cream & chalked, automatically looks vintage! This last card feels kinda quilt-ish to me :) Love the gingham paper too :) The tree was inked mostly in Old Olive but I used the Chocolate Chip marker to color the trunk and after I'd stamped it, I used the fine tip of the marker to add a little more brown to the trunk & branches. I also added random dots to the tree with the Ruby Red marker after all the chalking was done.

Here's one of the cards we made at the Christmas Card Stamp-a-Stack:

A Fall Wedding Card

One of my co-workers asked for a wedding card... here's what I came up with. The old hostess set with "TOGETHER" is one of my favourites for weddings and anniversaries. The gold embossing makes it a little harder to read but I really like the look. Something about weddings and dry embossed papers just go together for some reason. I pulled out my trusty piercing template and covered a piece of vanilla cardstock with polka dots. Although it's somewhat time consuming I haven't broken down & bought a cuttlebug yet :) I had decided before I started that this leaf set was perfect for the style I wanted I wasn't sure if I wanted solid stamping, watercolour or some other technique for the leaves. After some exprimenting & the decision to use brushed gold for the card base. I decided on solid stamping with little bits of gold embossing on the leaves. After stamping & cutting out the leaves I used my VersaMarker to trace little bits of the leaf veins, rubbed the edges of the leaves on my VersaMark pad & then embossed in gold. I think it was just the touch I was looking for.

Ingredients:

Brushed gold, Very Vanilla - paper; Ruby Red, Old Olive, Really Rust, More Mustard, VersaMark - ink; Autumn Leaf Prints, discontinued hostess set - stamp sets; gold brads, old embossing powder, scallop edge punch, piercing template, embossing stylus, VersaMarker - accessories;

Some Pretty Cards

This pink & kiwi card is one I did for a demo at my last party. I'm so totally in love with the Pink Pirouette striped ribbon. I wasn't crazy about the new pink... seemed kinda pale but ever since I got the ribbon I can't stop using it :) It also pleases some strange thing within me to use the same pattern in two different colours. So all around this card is one of my recent favourites. The card didn't scan as well as it could have, but here it is!

Ingredients:

Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla, Bella Rose DSP - paper; Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette - ink; Pocket Silhouettes - stamp set; Pink Pirouette striped ribbon, Vanilla hodgepodge hardware, piercing template, label punch - accessories;

And the beautiful Bella again. I loved the sample card in the catalogue next to the Bella Toile background stamp, so I had to make my own version in Riding Hood Red. I'm crazy about Red & White and Blue & White Toile patterns!!

Ingredients:

Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White - paper; Riding Hood Red - ink; Bella Toile, Dreams du Jour - stamp sets; Riding Hood Red striped ribbon, scallop edge punch, pretties kit, Stampin' dimensionals - accessories;

Exchange Cards & a Fall Card

So my friend asked me to join a birthday card exchange & even though I didn't really have time to do it... I said yes. Of course.... stupid me! Anyway, I promptly forgot all about it until she reminded me 5 days before they were due. (mailing time between us is usually 2 weeks) Oops. So Monday night I started to make cards wildly!!! Here are two of the cards I came up with.

Belated Birthday
I thought this one was kinda cute. Mostly unisex which is good. The inside reads "... a little slow. Happy Belated Birthday". Don't know if you can see it in the scan but I also added a "snail-trail" in crystal effects behind the snail.

Ingredients:

Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Sahara Sand, Whipser White - paper; Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Sahara Sand - ink; Sanded, Bugs & Kisses, Euphoria Mini-Alphabet - stamp sets; Jumbo Eyelets, Baja Breeze striped ribbon, Word Window punch, Crystal Effects, 1/2" circle punch, Crop-a-dile - accessories;

Boy Birthday Card
I love to mix stamp sets too. The cake came from an old Simply Sent Card Kit & the ants are from Bugs & Kisses.

Ingedients:

Basic Black, Always Artichoke, Night of Navy, So Saffron Prints DSP, Whipser White - paper; Basic Black, Always Artichoke, Night of Navy - ink; Lots of Thoughts, Bugs & Kisses, A Wish for You Simply Sent Card Kit - stamp sets; So Saffron marker, Always Artichoke marker, 1/8" punch, 1/2" circle punch - accessories;

Fall Thanks
This card was another sample from my Open House. I saw a very similar one on splitcoast. Here's my version

Ingredients:

Summer Picnic DSP, Close to Cocoa, Old Olive, More Mustard, Really Rust, Pumpkin Pie, Whipser White - paper; Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip - ink; Autumn Harvest, Thank You Kindly - stamp set; Spritzer, Close to Cocoa marker, blender pen, Stampin' pastels, Scallop circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, 16" punch - accessories;

Stuff from the Open House

I had such a hard time trying to decide what to post today!! I have so many things from my Open House I've been dying to share, but I didn't want to spoil it for anyone who was comming! Here's the first Make & Take card.

Halloween Card
This card was inspired by this card on splitcoast. http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1028303?cat=14633 Making the goo across the middle was a touch from the Haloween projects shown at convention last year. You use a circle punch to take random punches at different depths and create a goo effect :)

Ingredients:

Kiwi Kiss, Basic Black, Whisper White, Ghostly Greetings DSP - paper; Basic Black, Kiwi Kiss - ink; Batty for You, All Holiday - stamp set; Scallop circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, 16" punch, 1/4" circle punch, 1" circle punch, Kiwi Kiss striped ribbon - accessories;

Bella Card
This card was inspired by this monogram card on splitcoast - http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1020415?cat=12525 I really wanted to show another technique along with the gorgeous Bella Rose paper! And of course, we needed to use the scallop edge punch on Something!

Ingredients:

Chocolate Chip, Bella Rose DSP, Whisper White, Brushed Gold - paper; Chocolate Chip, VersaMark - ink; Taffy Alphabet, Frames with a Flourish, Define Your Life - stamp sets; gold embossing powder, scallop edge punch - accessories;

And finally, from all the samples I plowed my way though in the last month, this is my most favorite! I saw the banana candies in a baggie, here http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/978285?cat=14262 and loved the idea! Here's my take on it :)

Ingredients:

Yo-yo Yellow, So Saffron, Bella Rose DSP, Whisper White, Real Red, Kraft - paper; Chocolate Chip, VersaMark - ink; Sock Monkey - stamp set; white embossing powder, corner rounder, cellophane bag, banana candies - accessories;

The sock monkey is paper pieced.

Last Card in the Open House Trio

Apparently I'm having a thing about card sets :) Here's the last card in my trio for the Open House. (see August 26th post). This card is in the Silhouette style.

My sister teased me about having the Open House just so I could have an excuse to make so much fun stuff... I think she might be right :D

On each card I wanted to show a different decoration for the scallop edge, so this card has holes punched in each scallop.

Silhouette
Ingredients:

Sahara Sand, Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, Whisper White - paper; Sage Shadow, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Basic Grey - ink; Pocket Silhouette - stamp set; Scallop edge punch, 1/2" circle punch, 16" punch, silver brads - accessories;

Card Trios

After convention last summer I was so excited about the Batty for You set. I made a really cute trio of 3x3 cards with it. (see http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/692047?cat=500&ppuser=65553) When I saw the new Halloween Designer Series Paper (DSP) in the Fall 2008 catalogue, I had to make them again. Slightly different than last year... I love googly eyes!

Ingredients:

Basic Black, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Kiwi Kiss, Basic Grey, Ghostly Greetings DSP - paper; Pumpkin Pie, Kiwi Kiss, Basic Grey, Basic Black - ink; Batty for you - stamp set; Basic Black grosgrain ribbon, scallop circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, 1" circle punch, googly eyes - accessories;

After thinking about how much I loved the look of the trio I got the brain wave that a trio of Christmas ones would be cute too! So here it is!
Ingredients:

Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Old Olive, Baja Breeze, Ruby Red, Holiday Treasures DSP, Windsor Knot DSP - paper; Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red, Baja Breeze - ink; Deer Friends (hostess) - stamp set; Chocolate Chip polytwill ribbon, scallop circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, 1" circle punch - accessories;

Hope you like them!
